We want you to invite you to join us for an amazing weekend at The Nature Conservancy’s “Independence Creek Preserve”, to learn about fishing and what makes a river “alive.”

This will be a new kind of TYHP, where we focus on aquatic ecology and conservation. Participants will have fun learning new skills like kayak and bank fishing, fly-fishing, fly-tying, and lots more. Throughout the weekend, TPWD Fisheries Biologists will cover topics like aquatic ecology, how to survey for species diversity, and the unique qualities of the Pecos River and associated springs. Additionally, participants will learn how to kayak systems safely from local TPWD Game Wardens.

We will be staying in a lodge furnished with beds, electricity, running water, and toilets. Travel Trailers are welcome, though no hook-ups will be available. Camping is also available; we have some beautiful areas to throw a tent down and enjoy the night sky.
